Fabricating Stone DVDs 1, 2 & 3 - The complete set

This is the hottest instructional package going today! Fabricating Stone for the Do-It-Yourselfer - Volume 1 "Profiling-Polishing", Volume 2 "The Undermount Sink from Start to Finish" & Volume 3 "Glues & Sealers". This package includes all three DVD's you will need to make a beautiful work of stone that will last nearly forever. We sell all the tools you will need for this project in our online ebay catalog and we are also offering those to you for the same prices we sell them to our construction accounts.

Volume 1: Profiling & Polishing

This is the first in our series of acclaimed "how to" videos. This video teaches the layperson how to fabricate a piece of stone. It demonstrates which tools to use and how to use them when fabricating a piece of granite slab. By fabricate I mean to change the edge from square to whichever contour you want, then polishing the newly ground edge. This is NOT a 6 hour video compressed down to 32 minutes, but rather a start to finish project which shows how almost anyone can make a beautiful edge on their stone in very little time with the help of the right tools.

Back to the video, we took a piece of 2 cm thick granite which is 5' long and a little over 2' deep. The first thing we show is how to cut the piece using a poor mans rail saw. We then laminate a couple of the edges to give the stone the appearance of being twice as thick as it really is.

We proceed to fabricate the front & side edge into a 45 degree beveled edge. The new shape was cut into the top of the slab on what will be the front & side edges of a bathroom counter. We then polished the newly ground edge to match the finish on the face of the highly polished slab. There is no need to bevel or polish the other 2 sides as they will be against walls and will have backsplashes above the cut edges. We show the polishing process in agonizingly great detail. This part of the DVD is actually pretty boring, but we didn't want to skip through it as polishing is a slow process. Finally we show you how to rod the slab for strength so it won't break during transportation or installation.

One disclaimer I want to say is that the edge design used on this piece is a 45 degree bevel. This is the easiest shape to work with as it is all on one plane. You can still apply all the techniques of this video to other shapes like a demibullnose (aka radius or 1/4 turn), a full bullnose (a half turn), an ogee profile (does a little dipsy doodle) or any other profile you want. There are lots of shapes to choose from, but I have listed the 4 most popular ones here. Go with whatever your tastes are and we will help you make a beautiful masterpiece at a fraction of the cost you would pay to have it done for you. Not to mention that you will have the pride of making something that will last forever.

Volume 2: Undermount Sink

In this second video we take the slab that we put the contoured and polished edge on and show the start to finish process for fabricating it to accomodate an oval undermount sink. We also show the process for fabricating a rectangular undermount sink with rounded corners. This video teaches the layperson how to fabricate and polish the sinkhole, how to drill the spigot holes, how to mount and support the undermount sink and finally how to install the counter and backsplashes to a cabinet.

The sink we used for this video is the ceramic type sink which is actually adhered to the granite countertop. It is not the installation of the stainless undermount sink, which is far easier. This is NOT a 6 hour video compressed down to 32 minutes, but rather a 50 minute video which shows the completion of the counter project. This instructional DVD teaches almost anyone to fabricate an undermount sinkhole and to install a beautiful stone counter in very little time.

Back to the video, we took a piece of 2 cm thick granite which is 5' long and a little over 2' deep. We already had a 45 degree bevelled edge that was polished (courtesy of the first video) and a laminated front edge. We then proceed to cut and polish the sinkhole, drill the spigot holes, install the counter with backsplashes and mount the undermount sink with support brackets.

Volume 3: Glues & Sealers

This is the third in our series of acclaimed "how to" videos. In this video we cover many aspects of fabrication and care of your granite such as, "How to make straight cuts on slabs using a Skilsaw" and "How to laminate the edge of a slab to double the thickness" as well as "How to glue seams professionally" and "Structural & nonstructural chip & crack repairs". Finally we will show you how to enhance the polish of your stone and how to seal your stone for protection of the polish and how to stainproof it.

This DVD is 101 minutes of education! It shows you how to work with the 2 major types of glues used with stone, Epoxy and Polyester Resin. Mixing & coloring them along with the application to granite. You get firsthand instruction on repairing granite and fixing problems associated with stone countertops, along with use and application of two different types of sealers. This DVD goes great with the first two in the series, completing the set, but it is a stand alone work and will be useful to anyone interested in maintaining their granite countertops life & beauty.

We are not recommending that you watch this video once and then sell your house to open a stone fabrication business. There is a lot more to having a successful fabricating business than this - that's for sure! What we are recommending is that if you have always wanted to work with granite or marble then this video is a "Must See", allowing you to make high quality stone pieces that will last forever! The "fabricator" in this video is NOT a professional craftsman or stone worker. The "fabricator" is Mark DeFusco. If I can make this beautiful work of stone then so can you.
