The material you are working with will dictate which metal bonded and resin bonded tools you work with. Here are the recommended progressions for materials:
For Porcelain use the sintered tool first then proceed to the 400 grit resin bonded tool for finishing. You can then go to higher grits of the resin bonded tools depending upon the gloss level you are trying to achieve on your tiles. At 400 grit there should be no noticeable scratches and the color of the newly worked edge should match that of the face of the tile.
For Marble use the sintered tool first and the plated tool second, then proceed to the 400 grit resin bonded tool for finishing. You can then go to higher grits of the resin bonded tools depending upon the gloss level you are trying to achieve on your tiles. At 400 grit there should be no noticeable scratches and the color of the newly worked edge should match that of the face of the tile. Generally on marble you will use up to and including the 1500 grit.
For Granite use the segmented tool first and the sintered tool second, then proceed to the 400 grit resin bonded tool for finishing. You can then go to higher grits of the resin bonded tools depending upon the gloss level you are trying to achieve on your tiles. At 400 grit there should be no noticeable scratches and the color of the newly worked edge should match that of the face of the tile. Generally on granite you will use up to and including the 3000 or the buff grit.

A profile is a type of accent, ornament, or decoration that is created on the edge of stone or tile materials that provide them with their own unique look and feel. Profiles also create a higher quality and easer to clean floor to wall transitions for rooms where hygiene is a concern. Creating a rounded transition or joint where the a counter top or floor meets up with a wall will make it easy to clean up any mess in kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals, and other rooms where spills are a common occurrence.
